Art Class Update

Here are some pics from my Thursday night adult class. It has been so much fun to spend time with these ladies talking about art and learning new skills. And honestly, I think it has really been a kind of therapy for all of us, which is exactly what I want. Thanks to all who have participated in either the adult or kids class or both!

Experiments in Teaching

Since obtaining my degree, which is fairly useless in terms of a clear-cut career path, I have toyed with the idea of teaching art classes-primarily to children. I have always come to the conclusion that I didn't have the time/real inclination to do what it takes to start these classes. There just always seemed to be too many hurdles to cross. But, recently, I have been trying to follow through with personal goals that I have made and this is one that keeps coming to mind. I have an idea for a business that I think could spring out of these classes. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing all of this, but I decided the best way to arrive where you want to be is to start somewhere. So, that's exactly what I'm doing. I am starting with a children's class (ages 4+) that will focus on introducing them to:

• art history


• art terms/definitions


• various art mediums including watercolor, acrylic, clay, graphite and charcoal


• self-expression through art

I am starting this month with a beta class that will (hopefully) help me more fully develop and refine the details of this idea. The beta class will be held January 23, 10-11:15am in my home.
